The Archdiocese obtained a grant to teach 1,000 adults Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid before June 30. The course is normally a $170 value. This national certification teaches faith leaders, employers, teachers, youth group leaders, volunteers, and other professionals to respond with care and genuine support to people experiencing a mental health or substance use concern or crisis. The Mental Health Companions at SJE will host an in-person adult response course on April 23—24 from 12noon—3p.m. in the Gathering Space Meeting Room. If you are interested in this course, please email Melissa Freymann at MHFAFreymann@gmail.com with the following information: your name, email address, job title, and emergency contact. Note: The course requires two hours of online pre-work before the first session.

This training answers Archbishop Lori’s call to address the growing mental health needs in our communities and is part of the Archdiocese’s Mental Wellness Initiative. You will receive an electronic Mental Health First Aid manual and Mental Health First Aid Certification for three years upon completion of course requirements.
