Parish Family Corpus Christi Celebration

  • St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD, 21146 United States (map)

Please join us this Friday, June 17, as we celebrate Corpus Christi! We have a day packed with opportunities for prayer, play, fellowship, food, and fun. Take a look at the schedule below and join us for a day and night that will be beautifully traditional and unusually fun!

Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit in the PAC begins at 9a.m. on Friday
Every time we attend Mass, a miracle occurs. God Himself, really and substantially, becomes present in the Eucharist. Sometimes, God’s real and substantial presence even changes the Host’s appearance into flesh, blood, or both. These special miracles will be displayed in a photographic Eucharist Miracles of the World exhibit coming to St. John the Evangelist as part of our weekend-long Corpus Christi celebration. Come to the Parish Activities Center Friday, June 17 from 9a.m.—9p.m.; Saturday, June 18 from 9a.m.—9p.m.; or Sunday, June 19 from 8a.m.—6p.m. This exhibit is made possible by Blessed Carlo Acutis.

Chalk Art the Parking Lot for Jesus — 11a.m. to 6:45p.m.
In the beautiful and traditional Eucharistic Processions of Europe, even the ground over which Jesus is carried is decorated and made beautiful. We're keeping the tradition alive here at St. John as we invite families and individuals to decorate the pathway of our parking lot where Jesus will be carried on Friday night. Bring your own chalk, choose a parking spot and get creative! Last year's images included everything from images of the Cross, to the Sacred Heart, to a Chalice and Host.

Water Games at the Playground!

Friday may be a little hot so we've got some water fun to break up the day! Sprinklers will be turned on near the playground at Noon for kids to cool down and catch a break from the heat. Parents please bring a towel for your kids if they plan on getting wet!

Flower Carpets for Jesus — 2p.m. to 6:45p.m.
This is just like the chalk art only with flower petals! Help carpet our King’s path with flower petals. No experience or flower petals needed. Signup is required so please follow this link: signupgenius.com/go/60b044ba9ae22a31-corpus5

Water Balloon and Super Soaker Battle at the Playground! - 4:30p.m.

At 4:30pm we invite kids in grades 1-4 and 5-8 to join us for a huge water balloon and super soaker battle! Kids will be formed into teams and hundreds of water balloons will be unleashed! Join us for a fun and crazy time to cool down from the heat!

Food Trucks & Fellowship — 4p.m. to 7p.m.
The entire tree-lined and shaded side of the campus parking area will become our picnic and pedestrian-only area for food trucks and fellowship! Families and individuals are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, a cooler, and then pickup dinner from the Old Line Crab Company, Ciao Roma Italian or bring your own meal in a picnic basket and join your fellow parishioners for a lovely dinner. Then, cool off with a sweet treat from the Kavern Snowball Truck.

Outdoor Eucharistic Procession — 7p.m.
After dinner and fellowship we'll get ready to begin the Eucharistic Procession. Join us as we sing and walk with Jesus in the Eucharist from the church to Larsen Field, stopping briefly at altar stations along the way. This moving and traditional act of devotion and faith in the Eucharist is a beautiful sign of our love for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Adoration & Worship — 7:30p.m.

The Eucharistic Procession will take us to Larsen Field where we will spend time in Adoration, praise, and worship. Join us for a powerful evening like no other! Bring a chair or blanket as we enter into an unforgettable time of prayer before Jesus enthroned on our "burning bush" in the center of Larsen Field and illuminated by 100 candles.

Overnight Adoration followed by 7a.m. Saturday Benediction

Our time of worship continues overnight in silent prayer before the Lord. Please join us outdoors overnight as we continue to honor the Lord and pour out our prayers before him. Adoration concludes with Benediction at 7a.m. on Saturday morning.
