“The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler” is a movie based on the life of Irena Sendler who smuggled 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto and saved them.
Irena Sendler was a Catholic social worker who sympathized with the Jews since her childhood when her physician father died of typhus contracted while treating poor Jewish patients. Irena was part of the Polish underground during World War II and was arrested by the Nazis for saving these children.
